A couple of posts back, I mentioned that ten years ago, I used to venture into Baltimore's Inner Harbor on my way to morning meetings at the downtown office, in order to take pictures in the "sweet light" right after sun-up. Here are some of the pictures...
Pride of Baltimore II
Waterfront scene with harbor cruise boats.
Baltimore City Courthouse...
Did you ever have that sinking feeling?
I heard that this one actually sank...right there at the dock.

For safety's sake (regardless of my attire), I wouldn't risk walking alone downtown nowadays...whatever the reason. So I'm really glad that I have these memories...

Good pictures. It is really sad what has become of the City of Baltimore. It is a nicely laid out city with lots to offer but the political forces that rule the redistribution of other people's money have taken the city right to the dumpster.
ReplyDeleteThanks...I so enjoy taking pictures...
DeleteYes, it's sad to see the changes. None good. However, there is a bright side...Baltimore's not as violent as some other cities. Check the internet for the number of shootings in Chicago over the weekend. Comparatively, that makes Baltimore look like a "walk in the park..."
But don't misconstrue it to mean I'll be going back to the Inner Harbor for more pictures...

We agree. Chicago is a total basket case and it is generally ignored. We went into NYC Friday night to see a Billy Joel Concert at MSG. It was a great show but the deterioration we could see in NYC from the Rudy and Bloomberg years to the Democrat DiBlasio is disgusting. Trash and litter everywhere. Homeless lying in smelly heaps where you have to walk. Panhandlers looking to mooch at every corner. As I was waiting to meet my wife I was leaning against a pillar and a barefoot woman steps on my feet and she has the nerve to give me the evil eye after she bumped into me as I was just standing there.
ReplyDeleteIt is really sad to see how quickly things have changed with the Democrat mayor. I think it will be a while before we head back down to the city. We used to do it all the time but I will find more hospitable places to spend my money.

The woman who stepped on your foot was suffering from "Why Don't You Look Where I'm Going?" Syndrome. A number of drivers in Tennessee (we've been visiting our son there for the past couple weeks) have serious cases of that. Fortunately, there were no accidents. (I WAS looking where they were going.)
