We planned accordingly and canceled all plans today...staying home!

I backed the car in the garage out into the street earlier this morning, and moved the one from the driveway (covered with snow) into the garage to melt off. As I (dressed in a fleece exercise suit and heavy jacket) was shuffling cars, a guy and his 3 kids pulled up in front of our place and piled out, with their shovels.

Since they were fresh-looking (translation not cold soaked and snowy) I asked how it was that they chose to stop at my place..."Well, Ma'am, I saw that you were moving cars around and might need the help." "Thanks, gentlemen, I really appreciate your stopping. But first I want to make sure you're sent by the homeowners association, as I don't want to pay extra for a service I've already paid for." They waffled a bit, but gave a believable answer, so I said "as long as I don't pay twice, go ahead. And I really appreciate it."

One man and 3 boys made short work of the snow, even the stuff the plow pushed up from the street. They got into their truck and drove away. If they weren't from the homeowners' association, they were simply helping a damsel in distress. And we didn't have to pay. (But I have their license number just in case it becomes an issue!) Fun part is - as of now (11:30) nobody else has had their sidewalks or driveways shoveled...unless they did it themselves.

I mentioned the "Ma'am" part to my wife. Surprisingly, she didn't take exception to it - "as long as they did our shoveling for us. It's like getting lots of help with our luggage when we're on trips." Maybe this is a good sign?

When I came in, I changed to a long black jumper dress, black tights and gray turtleneck. Later, I plan to shuffle cars again...this time I won't change... and see if she objects!

Mandy

Mandy Shermanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01547323395921637440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6483143481224034343.post-3597718017013651662015-02-17T07:05:38.649-08:002015-02-17T07:05:38.649-08:00I am glad that you and your wife have gotten over ...I am glad that you and your wife have gotten over the cold. It is now snowing up here in NY and I understand that your neck of the woods got some snow today as well.

I sense that between your hair and nails, your slacks and the visable pantyhose under the slacks that you give out primarily female signals. Add that to being in a salon getting a feminie pretty manicure should be enough to cause anyone to address you as a female.

Stay well.

PatPat Scaleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00148601231866277374noreply@blogger.com
